Mind Tools & Inspirations: Your Center
The center of your being is not a place, it is an experience— a feeling. In this 3-minute practice you begin to explore your experience of your center.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Let yourself begin to arrive in this place of sitting with eyes closed.
Imagine or have a sense of the center of your being.
There is no hurry.
Just wait and invite a sense of the center of your being, the center of your self to show up.
Focus your attention on your center.
Place your hands on your chest, one hand over the other.
As you inhale bring your arms out to the sides.
As you exhale bring your hands back to your chest.
Bringing your arms out to the sides while you are inhaling.
Bringing your hands back to your chest while you are exhaling.
Continue moving and breathing like this, at your own pace.
Each time you exhale and bring your hands to your chest, have a sense of gathering your attention on the center of your being.
Sit comfortably.
Connect with the center of your being.
Feel your center.
Stay with the feeling for as long as you like.
WHY DO THIS?
According to neuroscience your human system continuously constructs a core felt sense of self that you experience as “me”.
Philosophical and religious traditions elaborately explain particular ideas of the center of consciousness, life force, connection to the divine, and much more.
Our brief practice helps you slow down and focus attention on your personal experience of the center of your self. It’s a tiny beginning of a limitless exploration.
Mind Tools & Inspirations are experiences for busy, smart, curious people to help you operate your human system.

We recently practiced “letting things go”.
(This is as if we are doing a counter-pose…but for the crowded mind. )
