Mind Tools & Inspirations: The zoomies
Does your dog or cat ever get a crazy look in their eyes and take off running wild laps around your house or yard? It’s called “the zoomies”. In this 3-minute practice you connect with a burst of puppy energy.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Let your legs and back gently move to be comfortable sitting here.
Bring your attention to your physical energy.
How energetic does your body feel right now?
Bring your attention to your mental energy.
How alert does your mind feel?
Take a deep breath in. Pause for a moment. Then gently release the air.
Again, a deep inhale, pausing to feel. Then a gentle, slow exhale.
Imagine or have a sense of a puppy dashing around in a burst of crazy energy.
Just wait and allow a sense of a puppy dashing around to show up.
Notice the joy.
Notice the crazy.
Notice the energy.
Take a deep breath in. Pause for a moment. Then gently release the air.
Again, a deep inhale, pausing to feel. Then a gentle, slow exhale..
Imagine how it feels to be a puppy joyously dashing around in a burst of energy.
Imagine how it feels to be a puppy.
Stay with this feeling for as long as you like.
WHY DO THIS?
Spending a few minutes quietly connecting with puppy energy can be energizing. (And it’s less complicated than actually having a puppy.)
What you do with your mind can affect your body. What you do with your mind can affect your mind.
Mind Tools & Inspirations are experiences for busy, smart, curious people to help you operate your human system.
