Mind Tools & Inspirations: Letting go of "going to do"
Something you are going to be doing can color your current experience. In this 3-minute practice you explore the idea of letting go of something you are going to be doing.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Notice how you feel.
Have your hands in your lap, palms facing up. Your hands are open.
Allow something you’re going to be doing to come to mind.
There’s no hurry. Just wait for something you’re going to be doing to show up.
Imagine or have a sense that you are holding that thing you are going to do in your hands.
Gently close your hands, holding that thing.
Notice how holding on to that thing you are going to do feels.
Now gently open your hands.
Let that thing you are going to do go.
Have a sense of that thing you are going to do leaving.
Each time you exhale, letting more of that thing go.
Have your hands on your chest, one hand over the other.
As you inhale, bring your arms out wide to the sides.
As you exhale your hands come back to your chest.
While you are inhaling your hands are coming out to the sides.
While you are exhaling your hands are returning to your chest.
Continue moving and breathing like this at your own pace.
Again sit comfortably.
Notice how you feel.
Stay with the feeling for as long as you would like.
WHY DO THIS?
Excitement or concern about things you are going to be doing reside in your mind and body. They take up space. When you intentionally let something you are going to be doing go, even just for a little while, more of you is available to experience what you are doing now.
Mind Tools & Inspirations are experiences for busy, smart, curious people to help you operate your human system.

I needed the “let go” portion of this today. ;). I would share…but I am actually letting it go for a few days.
