Mind Tools & Inspirations: Inner light
A beautiful Indian and Nepalese greeting inspires this week’s practice: The light in me sees and honors the light in you.
In this 3-minute experience you connect with your inner light.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your breathing.
Without trying to change anything, notice the quality of your inhale.
Is your inhale deep or shallow?
Is your inhale long or short?
Ask your breath to be gentle.
As you inhale, gently and comfortably bring air in.
As you exhale, gently release the air.
Inhaling, gently bringing in air.
Exhaling, gently releasing air.
Imagine or have a sense that there is a light within you. Your inner light.
Perhaps that light is your essence, or your life force, or your spirit.
Imagine or have a sense of your inner light.
Each time you gently inhale, allow your inner light to get a little bit brighter.
Exhale gently, releasing air.
Inhaling, your inner light gets a little brighter.
Continue breathing like this.
Now sit comfortably.
And return to your inner light.
Be with your inner light.
As you inhale, gently opening your hands.
As you exhale, gently closing your hands.
Letting your inner light be nourished by your breath.
WHY DO THIS?
Inner light is a metaphor for your essence, your life force, your spirit.
Your inner light is separate from the goings on of the outside world.
Connecting with and nourishing your inner light helps you be more you.
Connecting with and nourishing your inner light helps you keep external events in perspective.
