Mind Tools & Inspirations: Handle with care
Right before leaving the house I noticed it was colder than I expected and changed clothes. Usually I just laugh about dressing for yesterday’s weather. But taking those extra minutes to change made my day more comfortable.
In this 3-minute experience you remember small moments when you listened to and acted on what you need.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your breath.
As you inhale, gently raise your shoulders up.
As you exhale let your shoulders relax.
Inhaling, raising your shoulders up .
Exhaling, letting your shoulders relax.
Listening to and acting on what you need can make your day better.
Perhaps you text to say you will be a little late instead of rushing.
Perhaps you ask to leave off the jalapeños.
Allow to come to mind a time when you listened to what you needed.
There is no hurry. Just wait and allow a time when you listened to what you needed to show up.
Connect with your experience of listening to what you need.
As you inhale, gently raise your shoulders up.
As you exhale let your shoulders relax.
Inhaling, raising your shoulders up.
Exhaling, letting your shoulders relax.
Now allow a different time when you listened to what you needed to come to mind.
Just wait and allow an experience to show up.
Connect with your experience of listening to what you need.
As you inhale, gently raise your shoulders.
As you exhale let your shoulders relax.
WHY DO THIS?
Listening to and acting on what you need is a big deal.
It can be something as small as making time to do this short practice even though you’re really busy.
Acting on what you need usually involves doing something a little bit differently—making a conscious choice rather than just operating on autopilot.
Noticing and appreciating what you just did amplifies the benefits.
Mind Tools & Inspirations are experiences for busy, smart, curious people to help you operate your human system.
