Mind Tools & Inspirations: Feeling at home
Feeling at home can be a sense of belonging, a special flavor of just-right in your body, in your life, in the moment. In this 3-minute practice you remember a time when you felt at home.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Notice how you feel.
As you inhale, raise your shoulders.
As you exhale, slowly relax your shoulders.
Let your exhale be full, releasing most of the air.
Again inhaling, raising your shoulders.
Exhaling slowly and fully, relaxing your shoulders.
Now as you inhale, let your spine lengthen.
As you exhale slowly and fully, let your back relax.
Inhaling, lengthening your spine.
Exhaling your back relaxes.
Now sit comfortably.
Invite a time when you felt at home to come to mind.
Perhaps you felt at home in a particular place.
Perhaps you felt at home being with a particular person or group.
Perhaps you felt at home doing an activity.
Remember or imagine feeling at home.
Remember what feeling at home feels like.
As you inhale, raise your shoulders.
As you exhale, slowly relax your shoulders. Let your exhale be full, releasing most of the air.
Again inhaling, raising your shoulders.
Exhaling slowly and fully, relaxing your shoulders.
WHY DO THIS?
Feeling at home arises when you notice a sense of things being right. You might notice that feeling in a place, or with a person or group, or while doing an activity, or you might just notice you feel at home in your body or in your life.
Perhaps there is a moment of that awareness. Perhaps the feeling lingers.
Notice what showed up for you when you do this practice. There are so many different situations and circumstances when that feeling can arise.
Mind Tools & Inspirations are experiences for busy, smart, curious people to help you operate your human system.

Fortunately, I have felt at home in many places. I had many very happy memories of gatherings and visits. We make new ones each day. It is lovely when people make space for you; and they feel the same in yours.
The shoulders are my weakest link;)
