Mind Tools & Inspirations: Declutter
Decluttering involves getting rid of unnecessary things. In this 3-minute practice you invite something in your life that would benefit from decluttering to come to mind.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Feel your hands where they are resting.
Feel where your body is touching the chair.
Gently bring your attention back and invite something in your life you would like to be less cluttered to come to mind.
Perhaps a physical space could be less cluttered.
Perhaps an aspect of your life would benefit from less clutter.
Notice what shows up.
Place your hands on your legs, palms facing down, out toward your knees.
Let your back be gently rounded.
As you inhale, move your hands along your legs toward your waist as you come to an upright position.
As you exhale, slide your hands back toward your knees, rounding your back.
Coordinate the movement with each breath.
Inhaling, coming to an upright position as your hands come toward your waist.
Exhaling, rounding your back, sliding your hands out toward your knees.
Continue moving and breathing like this at your own pace.
Each time you exhale, have a sense of letting unnecessary things go.
Now sit comfortably.
Imagine or have a sense of letting go of some of the clutter.
Stay with the feeling for as long as you like.
WHY DO THIS?
Connecting with a sense of letting go of unnecessary things may open a little space inside and can also motivate decluttering.
