Mind Tools & Inspirations: Cultivate peace
In this 3-minute practice you invite a sense of peace to arise and grow within you.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Notice how you feel.
Take a deep breath in.
Then exhale slowly, releasing the air.
Another deep breath in.
Exhaling slowly.
Then let your breath be free.
Invite a sense of peace to begin to arise within you.
Invite a sense of peace.
There is no hurry.
Just wait and allow a glimmer of a sense of peace to show up.
Cultivate the feeling.
Have your hands on the opposite shoulders, one hand on each shoulder.
Inhale here in this position.
As you exhale slowly lower your arms down by your sides.
As you inhale, bring your hands back up to the opposite shoulders.
Exhaling, slowly lowering your arms.
Inhaling, your hands return to the opposite shoulders.
Continue moving and breathing like this at your own pace.
Moving slowly as you exhale.
Now sit comfortably.
Invite a sense of peace to arise within you.
Notice how it feels.
Let a sense of peace grow.
Cultivate a sense of peace.
Stay with the feeling for as long as you like.
WHY DO THIS?
How you feel is a response to what is happening within and outside of you. Feelings are reactions. But you also can influence how you feel. In this practice you invited a sense of peace to show up. Perhaps it did. Isn’t that amazing?
