Mind Tools & Inspirations: Childhood cupcake
My baker friend gave me what he referred to as a CHILDHOOD CUPCAKE. It had lots of sprinkles. He said “when you eat it you will feel like you are four years old again.”
Connecting with pleasant memories from childhood in this 3-minute experience can remind your body and mind of being that age.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your breathing.
Let your exhales be comfortable and full.
Releasing the air, releasing tightness or tension with each exhale.
Then let your breath be free.
My baker friend gave me what he referred to as a CHILDHOOD CUPCAKE.
It had lots of sprinkles. He told me “when you eat it you will feel like you are four years old.”
Remember or just have a sense that you are being given a CHILDHOOD CUPCAKE or some other favorite childhood treat.
Just wait and allow a memory or a sense of a childhood treat to show up.
What was the treat like? How did it look? How did it taste?
Let your inhale be comfortable and deep.
Let your exhale be comfortable and full.
Now let your breath be free.
Again remember or have a sense of enjoying a favorite childhood treat.
Perhaps there was the situation or occasion.
Perhaps you were a certain age.
Bring yourself there.
Let your exhales be comfortable and full.
WHY DO THIS?
Notice how you feel after doing this practice.
When you quiet your mind by focusing on your breath and allow memories of a childhood treat to show up, your human system remembers.
Your body and mind return to those times. In a way you are young again.
Mind Tools & Inspirations are experiences for busy, smart, curious people to help you operate your human system.
