Mind Tools & Inspirations: Awakening
Daylight in spring entices the living world (including you!) to awaken. In this 3-minute practice you imagine or have a sense of daylight in spring.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Notice how you feel.
Daylight in spring entices the living world to awaken.
Remember your experiences of daylight so far today.
Remember or have a sense of daylight touching you in the morning.
Remember or have a sense of daylight coming through the window, or daylight surrounding you if you went outside.
Have your arms down by your sides.
As you inhale raise your arms up from the sides just a little ways.
As you exhale lower your arms down.
Inhaling asyou raise your arms up from the sides a little bit higher.
Exhaling as your arms float back down.
Each time you inhale your arms come up a little bit higher.
Continue this at your own pace.
Eventually your arms will come up all the way overhead, fingertips almost touching.
As you move and breathe like this, as you coordinate movement with breath, have a sense of daylight increasing each time you bring your arms up.
Now sit comfortably.
Imagine or have a sense of daylight in spring.
Imagine or have a sense of awakening.
Stay with the feeling for as long as you like.
WHY DO THIS?
The change of seasons influences you and the living world. Spring is momentous. It’s planetary.
Doing this practice helps you pause and bring your attention to the gradual changes that nurture the awakenings of spring. Perhaps something in you is ready to awaken. Or perhaps you just enjoy your connection to the natural living world.
