Mind Tools & Inspirations: A Thanksgiving dish
Thanksgiving serves up a feast of memories unique to you. Regional, cultural, and family traditions come together on the dining room table. In this 3-minute practice you call to mind a favorite Thanksgiving dish.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Place your hands on the opposite shoulders. One hand on each shoulder, your arms are crossed in front of you.
Inhale here.
As you exhale lower your arms down by your sides.
As you inhale bring your hand back up to the opposite shoulders.
While you are exhaling your hands are moving down by your sides.
While you are inhaling your hands come back to your shoulders.
Continue moving and breathing like this at your own pace.
Now sit comfortably.
Invite a Thanksgiving dish you particularly enjoy to come to mind.
Something from the past or present that you love to eat at Thanksgiving.
Remember the taste.
The texture.
The smell.
Have your hands on the opposite shoulders.
As you exhale lower your hands down.
As you inhale bring your hands back up to your shoulders, pausing for a moment or two.
Continue moving and breathing like this.
Pausing for a moment or two with your hands on your shoulders at the end of your inhale.
Again sit comfortably.
Return to that favorite Thanksgiving dish.
Remember how that favorite dish makes you feel.
Stay with the feeling for as long as you like.
WHY DO THIS?
How many Thanksgivings old are you?
So many memories. So many feasts.
Spending 3 minutes connecting with a favorite Thanksgiving dish gives you a little time to relive a nourishing experience.

Happy Birthday Carrie! I am not sure if it was Thanksgiving, but the hypermedia tribe went to Prof. Dickson's house for wonderful gatherings. At one event someone brought brie with apricot in a pastry. It was my first exposure to better cheese outside of El Az fri-bur chihuahua cheese. We may have celebrated your birthday around then, also! I will continue hugging myself and breathing today.
