Mind Tools & Inspirations: A day off
Time off feels special—because of what you don’t have to do and because of what you might do.
Even if today is Monday you can reconnect with your experience of a day off by doing this 3-minute experience.
TRY THIS…
If you have time, let me guide you so you can focus on your experience.
HERE IS THE PRACTICE
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Notice how you feel.
Have your hands softly closed.
As you inhale, gently open your hands.
As you exhale, gently close your hands.
Inhaling, opening your hands.
Exhaling closing your hands.
Continue moving your hands and breathing like this.
Gently bring your attention back.
Remember or imagine how you feel when you know that tomorrow will be a day off.
Just wait and allow the feeling of a day off to show up.
Give yourself time to let that feeling arise.
Then be with the feeling.
As you inhale, gently opening your hands.
As you exhale, slowly closing your hands.
Inhale opening your hands.
Exhale slowly closing your hands.
Continue moving your hands and breathing like this.
Return to the feeling of a day off.
Allow the feeling to fill your body, as if tomorrow really is a day off.
Inhaling bringing in the feeling.
Exhaling allowing the feeling to spread.
Then just be with the feeling.
Inhale opening your hands.
Exhale closing your hands.
Notice how you feel.
WHY DO THIS?
Perhaps you experienced a physical shift in how you feel when you did this practice.
When you remember a feeling your human system simulates that feeling in your body and then you feel it.
Imagining is not just in your mind. Your body changes to resemble how it reacts when it experiences what you are imagining.
Imagining or remembering the feeling of a day off can help you feel more expansive.
Mind Tools & Inspirations are experiences for busy, smart, curious people to help you operate your human system.
